Shopify Automations: Review Request

The Shopify Review Request SMS automation sends an automatic post-order text asking customers to leave a review after their Shopify order has been fulfilled.

How to Enable the Automation

  1. Make sure your Shopify account is connected to Notify Customers
  2. Go to Automations
  3. Find "Review Request After Order"
  4. Click the "Enable" button
  5. Choose how many days after fulfillment you want the text to send
  6. Add your Review URL
  7. Review the message template and edit it if you want to
  8. Click Save

If Shopify needs additional permissions, Notify will ask you to reconnect before enabling the automation. This is required so Notify can check eligible Shopify orders.

You can return to the same Automations page and select Disable at any time to turn the automation off.

Settings

You can customize:

  • Send timing: Choose when the text sends after an order is fulfilled. The default is 3 days after fulfillment. You can set this from 0 to 30 days.
  • Review URL: Add the link where customers should leave a review.
  • Message template: You can optionally edit the text your customers receive.

The default message is:

Hi {{ first_name }}, thanks for your order from <your_business_name>! We'd love your feedback. Leave a review here: {{ review_url }}

Notify automatically adds the required opt-out text: Reply STOP to unsubscribe.

Available insertable message fields include:

  • {first_name}
  • {order_number}
  • {review_url}

How it Works

When this automation is enabled, Notify Customers checks your connected Shopify store for fulfilled orders. When an order reaches your selected send timing, Notify sends the customer a review request text with your review link.

Notify only sends one review request text per Shopify order.

Who Gets a Text

A customer will receive a review request text when all of these are true:

  • The Shopify order has been fulfilled.
  • The order has not been cancelled.
  • The order was fulfilled after the automation was enabled.
  • The order has reached your selected send timing.
  • Shopify has a usable mobile number for the customer.
  • The customer is subscribed to SMS marketing in Shopify.
  • The customer has not opted out of texting in Notify Customers.
  • Your account has enough credits for the automation text.
  • A Review URL has been added in the automation settings.

Message History

You can review automation text history on this page. The history shows when the text was sent, the customer, mobile number, automation name, message, and delivery status.

Why a Text Might Not Send

Common reasons include:

  • The order has not been fulfilled yet.
  • The order was cancelled.
  • The order was fulfilled before the automation was enabled.
  • The order has not reached your selected send timing yet.
  • Shopify does not have a valid mobile phone number for the customer.
  • The customer is not subscribed to SMS marketing in Shopify.
  • The customer opted out of texting in Notify Customers.
  • Your account credit balance is too low.
  • The Review URL is missing.
  • Shopify needs to be reconnected with the required permissions.
